Created by KOHCHOSAI KOSUGA, a Japanese bamboo house established in 1898, this incense is part of the Chikuseikō collection. Made using bamboo charcoal and plant-derived fragrance ingredients, it produces remarkably little smoke, allowing the scent to unfold gently rather than filling the room with that familiar, heavy incense smell.
There's a beautiful Japanese tradition called Kōdō, the art of appreciating incense, often described as 'listening to fragrance'. Rather than simply scenting a space, it's about paying attention to the smallest nuances. Plum Tree captures something of that philosophy. Place one incense stick in a suitable incense holder on a heat-resistant surface. Light the tip, let it burn for a few seconds, then gently blow out the flame. Allow the incense to smoulder and release its delicate fragrance. Use in a well-ventilated space, away from flammable materials, and never leave burning incense unattended.
