I TRIED PRP 3 TIMES. HERE'S MY HONEST OPINION.

I TRIED PRP 3 TIMES. HERE'S MY HONEST OPNINION

The beauty industry loves a good promise.

More collagen. Firmer skin. Fewer wrinkles. Better skin quality.

PRP is one of those treatments that has received a lot of attention over the past few years, so I decided to see for myself whether it was worth it.

I didn't do one treatment. I did three.

In total, I spent around €900.

Looking back, it's not something I would spend my money on again.

What Is PRP?

PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma.

The treatment starts with a blood draw. The blood is then placed in a centrifuge, which spins it at high speed to separate the platelet rich plasma from the other components.
The idea behind PRP is that the platelets contain growth factors that may help support the skin's natural repair processes and stimulate collagen production.

Once the plasma is prepared, a numbing cream is applied to the face and the plasma is injected back into the skin through a series of small injections.
Because the treatment uses your own blood, there are no fillers or other substances involved.
One of the reasons PRP appealed to me in the first place is because it's a natural treatment. PRP uses your own blood. Nothing is added and nothing foreign is injected into the skin.
The idea of supporting the skin's own repair processes rather than changing facial features or adding volume was what initially convinced me to try it.

In my case, everything went according to plan. I always had enough plasma and the treatment was performed exactly as intended.

The Treatment Itself

The doctor was incredibly kind and professional throughout the entire process.

That said, I found the treatment quite painful. The numbing cream certainly helps, but it is still a series of injections across the face and not something I would describe as comfortable. Afterwards, my skin was red, sensitive and slightly swollen for a few days, which is completely normal and expected.

Most clinics recommend a course of treatments rather than a single session, which is why I completed all three.

Did I See A Difference?

This is where things become more complicated.

My skin looked slightly fresher after the treatments and I can believe that changes may have been happening beneath the surface.
But when it comes to visible results, the difference was minimal.
I didn't notice a significant improvement in firmness.
I didn't see a major increase in radiance.
I didn't experience the kind of visible transformation that would make me feel the treatment was worth the investment.

Could there have been collagen stimulation taking place? Possibly.
Could clinical measurements have shown an improvement? Perhaps.

But as someone looking in the mirror every day, the changes were simply too subtle for me.

Something Important To Mention

I'm 49 years old and I've been taking care of my skin consistently for decades.
I don't drink alcohol often.
I don't smoke.
I wear sunscreen every day.
I follow a skincare routine consistently and have done so for years.

PRP works by supporting your skin's natural collagen production. It is entirely possible that because my skin was already in relatively good condition, there was simply less room for visible improvement.

Someone with more sun damage, less consistent skincare habits or skin that has never received professional treatments may see a much more noticeable result than I did.

One thing I've learned after many years in the beauty industry is that the closer you get to your skin's potential, the harder and more expensive every additional improvement becomes.

That's why I can only speak from my own experience.

What Made A Bigger Difference For Me

What surprised me most is that I consistently see better visible results from something far simpler.

Twice a week, I do a gentle exfoliation followed by a mask chosen based on what my skin needs at that moment.

Sometimes that's hydration.
Sometimes it's calming ingredients.
Sometimes it's brightening ingredients.

The result is skin that looks fresher, smoother and more radiant.
The difference is visible almost immediately.

The cost is significantly lower and the process is considerably more enjoyable.

Would I Recommend PRP?

I don't think there is a simple yes or no answer.
There is science behind PRP and there are people who are very happy with their results.
It's also worth mentioning that my disappointment wasn't with the concept itself. I still appreciate the fact that PRP is one of the more natural aesthetic treatments available today.
My conclusion is simply that, for me personally, the visible results didn't justify the investment.

If you're considering PRP, it's worth understanding that the improvements can be subtle and may take time to appear.
For me, the visible return did not justify the cost, the discomfort or the time investment.

If someone asked me today whether I would spend €900 on PRP again or invest that same money in high quality skincare, regular facials and treatments tailored to my skin's needs, I know which option I would choose.

My Final Verdict

PRP wasn't a bad experience.
The doctor was excellent.
The treatment was performed correctly.
The theory behind it makes sense.

But after three sessions and approximately €900, the visible results were simply too limited for me to consider it money well spent.

One of the reasons I wanted to share this review is because the beauty industry often focuses on success stories. Sometimes a treatment is life changing. Sometimes it isn't. This wasn't a disaster. It just wasn't worth it for me.
And that's something I think is equally important to share.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much did the PRP treatments cost?

I paid approximately €900 for a course of three treatments.

Is PRP painful?

In my experience, yes. A numbing cream helps, but the treatment was still significantly more uncomfortable than I expected.

How long did it take to recover?

The redness and sensitivity largely subsided after a few days, although this can vary from person to person.

Did PRP make your skin look better?

My skin looked slightly fresher after the treatments, but the overall improvement was too subtle for me to feel it justified the cost.
