Pine brings a different character to the Chikuseikō collection. Fresh, green and gently woody, with the distinctive aromatic quality of pine needles. There's a natural crispness to the fragrance, balanced by a softer, earthy warmth. Rather than smelling like a conventional pine-scented candle or air freshener, it's a more delicate interpretation of the outdoors.
Created by KOHCHOSAI KOSUGA, a Japanese bamboo house established in 1898, each slender black incense stick is made using bamboo charcoal and plant-derived fragrance ingredients. The charcoal base helps minimise smoke, allowing the pine fragrance to unfold without the heavy, lingering aroma often associated with traditional incense.
Pine trees hold a special place in Japanese culture, symbolising longevity and resilience. Their evergreen character makes them a fitting inspiration for a fragrance that feels fresh and grounding at the same time. Place one incense stick in a suitable incense holder on a heat-resistant surface. Light the tip, let it burn for a few seconds, then gently blow out the flame. Allow the incense to smoulder and release its delicate fragrance. Use in a well-ventilated space, away from flammable materials, and never leave burning incense unattended.
