Sometimes the best thing you can do for your body and mind is step out of your routine for a few days. Slow down, breathe fresh air, eat nourishing food, and give your body the space to reset. That is exactly what I experienced during a three day detox retreat at Hotel Post in Bezau, the beautiful family run hotel where the story of Susanne Kaufmann began.
The retreat includes three nights at the hotel with a carefully prepared detox cuisine menu. Every day starts with a nourishing breakfast, followed by a light lunch and a beautiful dinner in the evening. The food is clean, seasonal and incredibly tasty. Detox often sounds restrictive, but here it feels generous and satisfying.
Part of the programme is a coordinated tea cure that gently supports the body throughout the stay. Warm herbal teas are offered throughout the day and quickly become part of the calming rhythm of the retreat.
The treatments are another highlight. My stay included the Signature Detox Treatment, a deeply relaxing 90 minute body treatment designed to stimulate circulation and support the body’s natural detox process. I also had the Detox Facial, which leaves the skin looking clear, fresh and very calm. On top of that I decided to book an additional anti aging beauty treatment, which made the stay feel even more indulgent.
What I loved most about these days was the balance between activity and rest. The hotel offers daily classes such as yoga, meditation, qigong and guided walks. I joined a meditation and yoga session, and spent a lot of time walking in the beautiful nature around Bezau. The mountains, the fresh air and the quiet surroundings make it incredibly easy to slow down.
There was also plenty of time to simply relax. I read my book, sat by the pool and enjoyed the winter sun. Even though it was February and only about 13 degrees, the sun was shining and it was warm enough to sit outside for a while, which felt wonderful after the treatments.
During my stay I also had a coffee with Susanne Kaufmann herself. We’ve known each other for a while, so it was simply a lovely moment to sit down together and have a little chat. Hearing her speak about the philosophy behind the brand, the connection with nature and the importance of holistic wellbeing was incredibly inspiring. It also explains why the treatments and the whole atmosphere of the hotel feel so thoughtful and authentic.
Another thing that surprised me was how good I felt during the detox. I did not experience any headaches, something people often expect when doing a detox programme. Instead I felt light, calm and very well taken care of.
Before I left, the team even prepared a detox lunch for the journey home. A small gesture that perfectly reflects the warmth and attention to detail you feel throughout the entire stay.
"These three days felt like a true reset. Beautiful treatments, nourishing food, calm movement, nature and time to slow down. It is a very gentle way to detox while still feeling comfortable and even a little indulgent.
A place I would happily return to again." - Kim
